Maria Arneson, Mom, says, "Cathy Riso has been teaching my girls, ages 10, 11, and 12, voice and keyboard lessons for several years and they just love her! She's very kind, understanding and patient with them. One of my girls has ADHD and Cathy knows how to keep her on task. I know that when I leave my girls in Cathy's hands, they are not only taught well, but they are also loved and cared for. I thank God for Cathy Riso and her willingness to share her talents."
Rachel Arneson, 11-year-old student, says, "I'm very comfortable with Mrs. Cathy. She lets us goof around and she goofs around with us. We laugh a lot in class. She's very encouraging. She's a talented singer and piano player. I've been taking her class for several years and hope to continue to keep learning from her."
Tabitha Arneson, 12-year-old student, says, "Mrs. Cathy is very nice. She'll let you pick your own songs to sing. She'll laugh at your jokes even when they're horrible and she makes us all laugh. She's a wonderful teacher."
Linda Rand, adult student, says, "I have had the opportunityto study voice with many people over my professional career. Most of the time I left saying, "Is that all there is?" or I would lose my voice. Yes...that is possible with the wrong coach and technique. There is nothing more scary for a student than to lose their voice and it happened to me.
I have admired Cathy's talent as vocalist/performer/recording artist for many years. I had no idea her teaching talents were beyond spectacular.
I was in the process of making a CD and hadn't sung for many years. She hand-designed my lessons and my rehearsal CDs, to my voice and my individual needs. NO ONE ever did that for me in my whole career. As a result...my tone, quality, endurance, pitch, and phrasing improved so much we had to re-record many songs in the original demo. That's good news in case you're confused.
I'm no spring chicken who is just starting out. She took care of me, my emotions and my voice with the tender loving care of a newborn babe coupled with professionalism and flexibility and...above all else...CARE.
A word to the wise, when you are looking for a vocal coach, don't go to an automaton that treats everyone the same way with the same exercises. It doesn't work. You'll get by. But if you want to soar, choose Cathy Riso. Her experience in performing, and her master skills in vocal technique and physiology will take you to the moon and back!
Besides, she's a really nice person!"
Carolyn Goedike - Mom of Dylan Goedike, teenage Musical Theater/Acting Student - "My son has been taking voice lessons from Cathy Riso for several years. We feel so very fortunate to have Cathy in our lives! She is an amazingly dedicated and talented individual. She treats her students with such respect and gives them her undivided attention. She goes above and beyond just teaching them during their lessons. She's done so many 'extra' things for my son, outside of his lesson time. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Cathy, and she has the most beautiful singing voice! We love Cathy Riso and highly recommend her for voice and/or piano lessons. She is not only a teacher; she is a mentor,"
Eddie Reynolds - It has taken a LONG time, but I can honestly say that I am comfortable in my own skin...I have found myself as an artist and have a strong sense of what the Lord is doing with my music for the future. That in itself is Awesome to me:-) Many people have asked me questions about my journey, and where things are, and where they are going...And I have to mention how this person right here has been very instrumental in what God is getting ready to do...Meet my Yoda-lol Cathy M. Riso My coach that transformed my vocals forever. I am Blessed to work with Great people, and this is one of Gods KEY pieces in my life that have secured my future:-)
Francesca Riso - Cathy Riso is my Mom but I have CHOSEN her as my voice teacher because she honestly has the best, most helpful and practical vocal suggestions of any teacher around. She has so much experience as a performer herself, she is able to give me, not only, vocal technique help, but actual performing advice that allows me to audition better and have the strongest, most confident performances of my life. I recommend her for students from beginners to adults returning to music after long hiatuses. She is kind but thorough; she has a huge library of music to choose from; and she is able to work with students on every aspect of vocal production, from breathing to what to do with your hands, to song selection, to altering a vowel sound for more relaxed presentation. I love my Mom and I love that she's my voice teacher!
